To make a full size version of the tatami inspired queen size platform bed, the length and width of the frame need to
be reduced by 5″ and 6″ respectively. Otherwise the construction and joinery is the same as the queen version. The materials list is the same as if you were building a queen version, but below is the cut list with the new measurements.
If you’re been looking for a king version of my Tatami Inspired Platform Bed, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve re-sized the original queen plans and added additional supports to the base to accommodate the larger and heavier 76″ x 80″ standard king mattress. I’ve had my eye on a DIY platform bed project utilizing the Tatami style joinery for a couple years now, but another project always seemed to keep coming up. That all changed recently when my daughter decided to redesign her room with a minimalist modern look and decided to ditch the old spindle bed.
