Woodland 75

A garden-inspired twist on the classic French 75. Fresh carrot juice adds subtle sweetness and earthiness, while ginger syrup provides warmth and spice. Finished with sparkling wine, this cocktail is bright, refreshing, and surprisingly elegant.

I couldn’t find a cocktail that felt like a natural companion to my Woodland Harvest pizza, so I started experimenting with one. The result is a garden-inspired riff on the French 75 that borrows a little sweetness from fresh carrot juice and a little warmth from ginger syrup. It’s not a classic, but I think it earns a place alongside this pizza.

Notes

To make ginger syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger, sliced
Combine ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, and strain. Store refrigerated for up to two weeks.
Freshly juiced carrots produce the brightest flavor. If using bottled carrot juice, choose one with no added sugar.
